Press Release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Teachers Learn To Live Their Best Lives With Debut Book!
City, State, USA Month date, 2018
Let’s be honest. Most teachers spend their summer breaks soaking up the sunrays and avoiding everything classroom related. That wasn’t the case for Tasha Askew this past summer. Instead, this teacher who was slated to loop up to the next grade with her students for the third time, was receiving divine direction to write a book.
“There were so many questions that came to my mind, including why, about what, and when?” says Tasha Askew. “I hadn’t planned on being an author at all! It was the farthest thing from my thoughts!” says Askew regarding if she intended to write and publish a book.
Askew began her career doing public relations for high profile artists in the music and entertainment industry in Atlanta, Georgia before transitioning into corporate America, taking positions at Turner Broadcasting and serving in capacities for CNN, Cartoon Network, and TNT. Believing that her Heavenly Father wanted her to have a more dynamic impact, she left the communications industry and worked at the Congressional Hunger Center in Washington D.C. “I’m a pretty passionate person, so that was a perfect opportunity for me!” says Askew regarding her move to work in the political climate of Washington D.C.
Her writings were featured on the Official White House blog as well as former First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” blog under the Obama administration. “I didn’t even give a single thought to my writing back in those days. They needed someone to write posts covering different events and I just took up the task,” laughs Tasha when asked about such large writing platforms.
As a social justice advocate, she was instrumental in influencing city-wide decision making in the midwest during the economic recession of 2009. She also facilitated amiable relationships between the United States Department of Agriculture and tribal governments on Native American reservations as well as forged relationships between USDA and African American communities with the aim to improve food conditions on reservations and in minority communities. Askew says, “That position was a dream come true!”
“Me going into the classroom was actually somewhat of an accident. While I was unemployed at one point, a friend suggested I try out substitute teaching to get some money. Years later, while in my governmental role, I made a series of decisions that led to a pivot in my career, and I joined Teach For America, ” says Askew regarding how she became a teacher.
She has since self-published a book entitled, “Teach Supernaturally: 3 Minute Devotionals That Will Transform Your Teaching!” where she shares the key to dodging teacher burnout and how she transformed into being dynamically effective with her students and parents of students! During her teaching career, Tasha earned a distinguished reputation as a high impact teacher who radically transformed student behavior and engagement! Some even dubbed her the “child whisperer!”
She adamantly stands by her belief that, “You cannot teach a child until you first love that child.” If you want to radically transform your experience as a classroom teacher and triple your effectiveness with your students, her debut book, “Teach Supernaturally: 3 Minute Devotionals That Will Transform Your Teaching!” will be available for presale in digital format on Amazon on November 26 and the official release date for paperback copies is December 8.
